Breast Reduction
While many women would like fuller and more prominent breasts, some women with a naturally large bust desire the opposite. Overly large breasts often cause intense physical discomfort and can limit a woman’s mobility, consequently affecting her overall quality of life and physical activity. They can also be a source of embarrassment, emotional distress, and low self-esteem. Breast reduction surgery is a procedure that reduces the size of the breasts and lifts the nipple-areola complex to a higher location, making the breasts appear smaller and more youthful.

Consultation
During your consultation, Dr. Aaronson will examine the condition of your breasts and look over your medical history to determine the best treatment plan for your breast reduction procedure. Both you and Dr. Aaronson will discuss your desires and choose which technique will best suit your needs.Techniques
Breast reduction is performed using general anesthesia. The technique used will depend on the amount of correction needed. For minimal correction, concentric circular incisions will be placed around the areolas (donut incision). Patients who need moderate to extensive correction will benefit from an incision pattern that encircles the areolas and then runs vertically down the lower breast tissue and along the crease beneath the breasts (anchor/inverted-T incision). Excess fat and tissue are then removed, and the breasts are reshaped to create a smaller bust. The nipple-areolar complex will also be positioned higher on the breasts. The incisions are then closed using surgical sutures.
