Breast Reduction

While many women would like fuller and more prominent breasts, some women with a naturally large bust desire the opposite. Overly large breasts often cause intense physical discomfort and can limit a woman’s mobility, consequently affecting her overall quality of life and physical activity. They can also be a source of embarrassment, emotional distress, and low self-esteem. Breast reduction surgery is a procedure that reduces the size of the breasts and lifts the nipple-areola complex to a higher location, making the breasts appear smaller and more youthful.

Benefits of Breast Reduction Surgery

Your Breast Reduction Procedure

During your consultation, Dr. Aaronson will examine the condition of your breasts and look over your medical history to determine the best treatment plan for your breast reduction procedure. Both you and Dr. Aaronson will discuss your desires and choose which technique will best suit your needs.

Breast reduction is performed using general anesthesia. The technique used will depend on the amount of correction needed. For minimal correction, concentric circular incisions will be placed around the areolas (donut incision). Patients who need moderate to extensive correction will benefit from an incision pattern that encircles the areolas and then runs vertically down the lower breast tissue and along the crease beneath the breasts (anchor/inverted-T incision). Excess fat and tissue are then removed, and the breasts are reshaped to create a smaller bust. The nipple-areolar complex will also be positioned higher on the breasts. The incisions are then closed using surgical sutures.

Combining Procedures

Liposuction can also be performed during your procedure to remove excess fat and skin in the treated or surrounding areas.

Before & After Photos

My friends who’ve been to Dr. Aaronson had very natural-looking results. I never suspected they’d had surgery until they told me!”

Following your breast reduction surgery, you will stay overnight under the supervision of one of our private duty nurses. Dr. Aaronson may have you wear a surgical bra. Swelling and bruising may occur but should resolve after a few days. You will also be asked to refrain from all strenuous activity and stay home from work for at least two weeks.
While Dr. Aaronson does his best to hide all scars in conspicuous locations, you will experience some scarring along the incision sites. All scars will usually fade over time.
The cost of your breast reduction procedure will vary depending on a number of factors, including the techniques used, the extent of correction, surgical fees, and anesthesia fees. Dr. Aaronson provides all of his patients with an estimated cost sheet during their initial consultation.
You may experience some discomfort and breast tenderness after your surgery. Pain medication will be prescribed to you by Dr. Aaronson to help minimize any discomfort.
