Eyelid Surgery

Loose skin, wrinkles, and fatty tissue around the eyes can make a person look tired, angry, and worn out. Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a procedure that removes excess skin and fat along the upper and lower eyelids to create a more youthful and rested appearance.

Benefits of Eyelid Surgery

Your Eyelid Procedure

Consultation

Patients interested in undergoing eyelid surgery must meet the following criteria:
  • Have realistic expectations
  • Show signs of aging around the eyes, such as sagging eyelids, wrinkles, and puffiness
During your consultation, Dr. Aaronson will examine the condition of your skin to determine the best approach for your eyelid procedure.

Techniques

Upper eyelid surgery: Can address excess skin and drooping of the upper eyelids. An incision is made along the eyelid crease. Dr. Aaronson removes excess skin and fat from the upper eyelid.

Lower eyelid surgery: Can correct puffiness and under-eye bags that have developed beneath the eyes. Dr. Aaronson will make an incision just below the lower lash line or within the lower eyelid to remove excess skin and fat deposits.

Combining Procedures

Patients can combine their eyelid surgery with a brow lift to produce even more stunning results and provide overall balance to the face.

Concerns

Following your eyelid surgery, swelling, bruising, and blurred vision may occur but should resolve after a few days. Cold compresses should be used to reduce swelling. If you plan to go outside, make sure to avoid direct exposure to the sun and wear darkly tinted sunglasses until your eyes have fully healed. You will be able to return to work several days after your surgery.
The incisions made during your procedure are small and can be easily concealed with glasses or makeup. Any visible scarring that does occur will fade over time.
The cost of your eyelid surgery will vary depending on a number of factors, including techniques, the extent of correction, and surgical fees. Dr. Aaronson will provide you with an accurate cost estimate during your consultation to help you determine the best plan to reach your aesthetic goals.
TYLENOL® is all that is needed after surgery since there is minimal discomfort.
